IEAS is offering three month animal care internships with their carnivores. Interest in the 6 month internship can be noted on the application.
Experience Includes:
- Safety procedures, diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, animal health, animal management, behavioral observations, enrichment, record keeping, assisting in construction and habitat modification, and related activties
- Interns will also be involved with the volunteer program, and both formal and informal presentations.
- Classes led by certified instructors for CPR, Basic First Aid and Bleeding Control will be provided
- Interns will have the opportunity to learn about animal behavior and emotions through participating in our Emotional Enrichment Program
- Housing, vehicles and a stipend are provided
- Please note: this is a strict no contact position
Experience Required:
- Candidates should have at least two years of undergraduate program studies in zoology, animal management, biology, or a related field
- International applications are welcome
- Interns must be able to perform regular, strenuous duties in over 100 degree weather and must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- You must present yourself in a professional manner.
Applications are accepted year-round. Deadlines for each semester are outlined below:
- Spring Session (March 1 - May 31) - January 1, 2018
- Summer Session (June 1 - August 31) - April 1, 2018
- Fall Session (September 1 - November 30) - July 1, 2018
- Winter Session (December 1 - February 28) - October 1, 2018
